Thank you to all of our sponsors! The Blaszczykiewicz Foundation and the DNRC have reached the first goal toward the purchase of the 3-Tesla Functional MRI Scanner to be housed at the DNRC facility in the summer of 2009. Thank you for your support and we will continue to raise funds for this much needed piece of equipment.
Mission: To raise funds to support need-based, deserving initiatives related to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders in patients from around the Western New York region.
History: The Blaszczykiewicz Foundation was created after founders Tom and Debbie Blaszczykiewicz went through every parent's nightmare. Their daughter Kristin was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Unfortunately, no facilities in Western New York had the equipment available to best treat her condition. Luckily the Blaszczykiewicz’s had the monetary means to take their daughter elsewhere. The Foundation was created after this event to bring state of the art neurology equipment to Western New York.
Goals: The Blaszczykiewicz Foundation campaign seeks to raise funds to purchase the 3-Tesla MRI scanner device to be housed in the non-profit organization – DNRC (Dent Neuroimaging Research Center).
Financial Donations: Financial contributions will be used toward purchasing the 3- Tesla equipment which will advance care in a number of subfields within the neurosciences, including neurooncology, stroke, epilepsy and dementia. It will also create a state of the art cancer detection facility here in Western New York. At it's onset, it will have the ability to connect to other related imaging entities within and outside the region.
Future Goals: This will be a Center of Excellence that will be able to network with national training sites of the American Society of Neuroimaging and be the "flagship" center within the United States. In the upcoming years, The Blaszczykiewicz Foundation would like to continue to raise funds and increase the quality of life for the patients by assisting them and their families with treatment costs and other financial struggles as a result of their illness.
